WALK REVIEW: 22nd March 2016

I was looking for a short walk to do today in between nursery drop off and pick up and this one turned out to be ideal!  I actually started on the other side of the river on a track I have been curious about for a few weeks now, having spotted it whilst driving up the slip road from A77 to Bellfield Interchange. It turns out to be a dead end, leading to a cottage only a short distance along. This is the risk I sometimes take when exploring new places! However whilst there I could see a large farm track on the opposite bank of the river which seemed to go out towards the railway viaduct so I decided to check it out. So glad I did because what I found was a short, pleasant 1 mile loop I can return to again and again.

Looking back down to Riccarton Mill Cottages – I had no idea I was going to stumble across these and it wasn’t until I got home and looked them up that I found out they had a name. Who knew they existed, or indeed that there used to be a mill in Riccarton?! A lovely little spot.
