At 368m (1207ft), Lattrig is one of the lowest fells in the Lake District. However the views from the summit are unrivaled and that's what makes it such a popular climb. This route takes you steeply uphill through both Lattrig and Bruntholme Woods before an easy ascent to the Viewpoint. Well worn paths and excellent signage leave little chance of taking a wrong turn!

Suggested parking area: Central Car Park, Heads Road, Keswick (CA12 5DN)

Lattrig

WALK REPORT: 13TH JULY 2018

Lattrig2
As we climbed through the woodland views over the Newlands Valley started to open up. Here you can see the visible footpath on Catbells with the Derwentwater at it’s foot.

This is the first place I have ever been where the sheep do not run away from you when you approach them! They must be so used to people that they don’t even bat an eyelid. Somewhere hidden amongst that low cloud the mighty Skiddaw rises (931m / 3054ft), waiting for me to climb it… one day!
Lattrig4
Looking back onto the Lattrig Viewpoint. What a place! At 325m above sea level it goes to show that you don’t need to climb high to be rewarded with scenic views.
