Walk 85 – Eglinton Country Park, Kilwinning – 1.6 miles

Eglinton really is a unique Country Park in Ayrshire – unlike any other I have visited. It is spread over a vast area and has so many quirky parts, full of surprises. This short route is ideal with the kids and takes in the all-abilities play park, courtyard and cafe, headless statue (!), castle ruins and Eglinton Loch. Take a picnic on a nice day! … More Walk 85 – Eglinton Country Park, Kilwinning – 1.6 miles

Walk 84 – Earl’s Seat, Campsies – 6.6 miles

At a height of 578 m (1896 ft), Earl’s Seat is the highest of the Campsie Fells. Relatively unspectacular-looking, it fades into the background behind it’s impressive neighbour Dumgoyne Hill. That said, the summit is a great vantage point with panoramic views across to Loch Lomond and the Scottish Highlands on one side, and the city of Glasgow and beyond on the other. Mostly grassy tracks, the route can be wet underfoot and boggy in places. It is a very exposed area with no shelter so do go prepared in case you run into poor weather! There is a steep section near the start before the route levels off to a far more gentle gradient thereafter. … More Walk 84 – Earl’s Seat, Campsies – 6.6 miles

Walk 83 -Traverse of Whitelee Windfarm: Ardochrig to Visitor Centre – 15.3 miles

This route shows off the scale and diversity of Whitelee, the UK’s largest onshore windfarm. It crosses from one side of the site to the other, passing through it’s less visited areas, many of which are rich in forestry. You will stand on the highest point in East Renfrewshire (Corse Hill), visit a WWII hurricane crash site, pass an active quarry, and even visit a memorial enclosure! Keep a lookout for dragonflies, small birds, woodland mammals and birds of prey. … More Walk 83 -Traverse of Whitelee Windfarm: Ardochrig to Visitor Centre – 15.3 miles

A short walk to an ‘adopted/dedicated tree area’ in the picturesque Glen Afton, surrounded by some of Ayrshire’s finest hills. Designated as an Ancient Monument, The Greenock Cut is an aqueduct built in the 1820s to supply water from Loch Thom to Greenock.
